Our Commitment

Raising the bar for U.S. baby food safety.

Did you know only 9% of American parents have a 'high degree' of trust in baby food brands?

Two babies, one smiling while sitting on his dad’s lap while the other is standing while eating a 'sweet potato + carrot' Babyblends. The setting features a cozy living room with a lamp and cushions in the background.

That's why we became the first baby food company with publicly available testing standards for over 500 toxins + contaminants:

Heavy Metals

Pesticides + Glyphosate

Plasticizers BPA + BPS

We hold ourselves to our high standard because that's what parents deserve.

Your questions, answered.

A lot code is a short identifier that helps track when and where a product was made. It connects your product to our safety, quality and testing programs.
Little Spoon lot codes help us monitor production, review testing results and quickly investigate questions if they ever arise.

Lot codes help put transparency and information directly in parents’ hands.
They allow us to:
  • Track products through production and distribution
  • Connect products to testing and quality checks
  • Investigate questions faster
Lot codes help us share meaningful product information and testing details so families can make informed feeding decisions with confidence. They are just one of the ways we help keep families informed and supported.
When it comes to food safety, you need facts, not confusion. That’s why we test every single lot of our products and share results by the lot number printed on the package. This isn’t a one-and-done test—it’s an ongoing commitment to ensuring the food in your little one's hands meets the highest standards, every time. Using lot numbers means we’re giving you the most up-to-date, relevant info. It’s all about making parents’ lives easier, not more overwhelming. As regulations and best practices evolve, so do we. We’re always looking for the best way to share this info so you can feel confident in every bite.
Great question! Our focus on baby products stems from the heightened vulnerability of children under 2 years old and therefore, a need for specified safety requirements. That's why at Little Spoon we have established European Union inspired safety standards for all of our offerings in the baby space. Regulations like California Assembly Bill 899 specifically require heavy metal testing for baby foods marketed to children under 2. While products for older kids aren’t included in these mandates, we hold all our offerings to the highest safety standards. You can check out our approach and a range of our farm partners on the Little Spoon Our Standards page.
At Little Spoon, we rigorously test for over 500 toxins, including heavy metals, plasticizers (specifically BPA and BPS), and pesticides (including glyphosate). Our current testing protocol tests for heavy metals in every batch of our baby stage offerings—we do this so you can have up to date information for your little one. Our pesticides, glyphosate + plasticizers testing is done regularly to ensure we meet our European Union inspired safety standards. You can have the peace of mind of knowing that we voluntarily adhere to some of the strictest standards in the world and none of our baby offerings will be sold without meeting our testing limits. Your little one’s safety is our top priority!
We know heavy metals can feel like a scary topic, but we’re here to share facts over fear. Heavy metals are naturally present in soil, water, and food, but overexposure can pose risks — especially for little ones.
The FDA recently set action levels for lead in baby food, but these are guidelines, not enforceable regulations. There are still no federal limits for arsenic, cadmium, or mercury in baby food.
That’s why Little Spoon holds itself to even stricter standards — aligning with the European Union’s tougher safety limits and setting some of the strictest internal thresholds in the industry:
  • Lead: ≤10 ppb (matching the absolute strictest FDA action level)
  • Arsenic: ≤20 ppb (≤40 ppb for cereal)
  • Cadmium: ≤40 ppb
  • Mercury: ≤3 ppb (even though the EU has no set limit for mercury in baby food)

By holding ourselves to higher standards today, we help minimize exposure while ensuring the highest quality nutrition for your little one.
